Truchas Chapter of Trout Unlimited Announces 2026 Truchas Scholarship for Regional STEM Students

The Truchas Chapter of Trout Unlimited is pleased to announce the availability of its 2026 Truchas Scholarship. The scholarship was created to recognize and support students pursuing studies in STEM fields—science, technology, engineering and mathematics—and this year is being expanded to include eligible 2025–26 seniors attending public high schools in Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Española.

Applications will be available starting December 1 on the chapter’s website (truchastu.org) and are due by March 15, 2026.

The 2024 Truchas Scholarship recipient, Fabian Larranga of Monte del Sol School, went on to study solar energy generation at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. The 2025 Truchas Scholarship recipient, Erin Lucioof Capital High School, is studying nursing at the University of New Mexico.

Since its founding as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1959, Trout Unlimited has pursued its mission to protect and restore coldwater fisheries in North America. Today, Trout Unlimited has more than 300,000 members and over 400 local chapters nationwide, including the Truchas Chapter in Northern New Mexico.
