On Saturday, April 27, eighteen adventurous women attended the second Santa Fe Ladies Fly Fishing 101 class at New Mexico Game & Fish Headquarters.
Hosted by New Mexico Game and Fish and the Truchas Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the women braved gusty winds and occasional rain to practice casting fundamentals after absorbing in-depth lessons on fly rods, reels, line, requisite gear and accessories, knot tying, aquatic entomology, fish habitat, and reading water.
The class was led by former guide and Truchas Chapter Board member, Boot Pierce, with support from Truchas Chapter member, Micki Bailey, and Chapter Board member, John Hanasack.
Although dates have not yet been set, plans are in the works for summer and fall Ladies Fly Fishing 101 classes.
