Social Hour & Board Meeting: guest speaker Bryan Ferguson, NMDOW – All members welcome

September 9 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free

Our September board meeting has a guest.

Bryan Ferguson, Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout Biologist with the New Mexico Department of Wildlife (NMDOW), speaks in the second-floor events room at Hervé Wine Bar on Wednesday, September 9. Social hour from 5:00, Bryan from 5:30 to 6:00, board meeting at 6:00.

He is covering four things: where Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout stand in New Mexico, the cutthroat populations of the Pecos watershed, the Pecos restoration projects underway now, and the Pecos strain broodstock.

That Pecos half is why the board fixed this date. The upper Pecos is the second most popular trout fishery in New Mexico, better than a million angler days a year, and twelve conservation populations of Rio Grande Cutthroat are left in the whole basin. Our 2026-2031 Strategic Plan commits us to making the case that the Upper Pecos should be a Trout Unlimited priority water by 2027. We are building that case now, and this is the science behind it.

Come with questions. Members and their guests both, so bring the fishing partner who cares about this watershed.
