End-of-Season Ales & Tales at Second Street Brewery

The cottonwoods are turning, the season is winding down, and just about everybody has a story from this year they have not told yet. That is what October 28 is for. Our quarterly social comes back to Santa Fe, to Second Street Brewery on Rufina, from 5 to 8 PM.

This is the one where the year gets talked through. What worked and what did not, which water surprised people, what everybody is tying this winter, and where everybody is headed next season. A fair number of chapter plans start at these tables long before they ever reach an agenda. Bring your best story from this season. Accuracy is encouraged but not enforced.

One ask, and it is the whole plan: bring somebody with you. A partner, a fishing buddy, the coworker who keeps saying they want to try fly fishing one of these days, a neighbor who just moved to Santa Fe and does not know the water yet. If everyone who usually turns up brings one person, this becomes the best one we have had. That is not a big lift, and it is genuinely how these things grow.

And if you are the one being brought along, or you are coming on your own without knowing a soul, you will be fine. People assume a chapter event means walking into a room where everyone already knows each other. Half the table met the other half exactly once. You do not need to fish, own a rod, know a nymph from a streamer, or be a member. Nobody is going to put you on a committee. Turn up, say hello, ask whatever you want to ask.

Ales & Tales moves around the region each quarter. Last round was up in Los Alamos, so this one belongs to our Santa Fe neighbors, and to anyone willing to make the drive.

• Second Street Brewery, 2920 Rufina Street, Santa Fe
• No cover and no ticket. Food and drinks are on your own tab.
• No RSVP. Come at five or come at seven, stay twenty minutes or stay the whole three hours.
• Members and friends both. Newcomers and non-anglers genuinely welcome.

Put it on your calendar, then text one person and tell them you are bringing them. Look for the table with the fishing talk coming off it. That will be us.
