Partner Spotlight: About Trout

We’re grateful to shine a spotlight on About Trout, one of the generous partners supporting our annual fundraiser auction this year.

About Trout donated a guided fly fishing trip to help support our chapter, and we truly appreciate their generosity. Support like this helps make our fundraiser possible and strengthens the work we do throughout the year in conservation, education, and building a stronger local angling community.

For many anglers in our region, the waters fished by About Trout are some of the most special around. From the San Juan River to the Upper Animas and Conejos River, they help connect people to remarkable fisheries and the experience of spending meaningful time on the water. Whether someone is booking a float trip, a wade trip, a euro nymphing day, or a high-country adventure, About Trout offers the kind of guided experience that brings together knowledge, hospitality, and a real love for these rivers.

What we especially appreciate about About Trout is their connection to place. They are not just guiding trips; they are helping people experience some of the waters that make this part of the world so special. Their team brings deep experience, a strong teaching spirit, and an obvious passion for sharing fly fishing with others. That matters, especially in a sport where so much is passed along person to person, day by day, on the river.

A guided trip can be many things. It can be a first chance to learn the basics. It can be an opportunity to improve skills and fish new water with confidence. It can also simply be a day to slow down, pay attention, and enjoy the kind of places that keep all of us coming back. About Trout seems to understand that a great day on the water is about more than catching fish. It is about the full experience: the river, the learning, the scenery, the shared stories, and the memories that stay with you afterward.

We also value the way they stay closely connected to the fisheries they guide. Their regular fishing reports and updates reflect the kind of ongoing attention that comes from truly spending time on these rivers in all kinds of conditions. That connection benefits their clients, but it also speaks to something bigger: a relationship with the water that is rooted in care, familiarity, and respect.

Community partnerships like this mean a great deal to our chapter. Businesses such as About Trout are part of the larger network of people who help keep fly fishing strong in New Mexico and the surrounding region. They introduce people to rivers, help anglers grow in skill and confidence, and contribute to the broader culture of stewardship that healthy fisheries depend on. When partners step up to support our fundraiser, they are helping support not just our chapter, but the future of the resource and the community built around it.

We are thankful to About Trout for their generosity and for being part of that effort. Their donated trip will be an exciting opportunity for one lucky auction winner, and we are proud to recognize them as a partner in this year’s fundraiser.

We encourage you to learn more about About Trout, explore their guided trip offerings, and see more of the rivers they fish by visiting abouttrout.com. And if you are looking for a memorable day on the water, consider booking a trip with them.

Thank you, About Trout, for supporting our chapter, our waters, and our community.
