Volunteers Urgently Needed—Join the Beaver Pond Leveler Crew June 20th!

We have an exciting and urgent volunteer opportunity coming up—and we need your help!

What: Assist the Forest Service in constructing a Beaver Pond Level Control device to protect FR 376 from flooding—while keeping our furry engineers safe and happy! 🦫

When: Friday, June 20, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Where: Beaver ponds on the Rio Cebolla upstream of Porter’s Landing on FR 376.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with HDPE culvert pipe and heavy wire mesh
  • Build wire cages on land
  • Install cages in the beaver pond and through the dam (expect knee-deep, sticky muck—bring waders!)

What to Bring:

  • Gloves, lunch, water, and appropriate clothing
  • Waders are required (it will be muddy!)

Observers Welcome: Parking is limited—prepare for a short walk.
